The Procurement & SRM Director, EMEA is responsible for Informa Markets procurement strategy in the EMEA region. The Procurement & SRM Director, EMEA will work with the business to create a successful procurement strategy and then execute it. The objective is to select the best suppliers for our business needs, negotiate agreements with these suppliers to meet Informa’s requirements, manage the contracting process and then ensure the ongoing high-performance of these contracts through a world-class SRM programme. The primary categories for this role are event operations and event marketing.


In addition, the Procurement & SRM Director, EMEA will be responsible for managing Informa Markets’ global procurement requirements in two key categories: divisional marketing and divisional technology. These strategies should be set in partnership with the executive leaders of these functions and should dovetail with/complement Group procurement strategy where appropriate.


Furthermore, the Procurement & SRM Director, EMEA should be a champion for Informa Markets’ Coupa platform and take a global leadership role in the evolution and utilisation of this platform, including the Operating Model that facilitates its success.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Procurement strategy

  • Define the procurement strategy for the EMEA region across a broad range of categories and supplier types, focusing on event operations and marketing
  • Define the global procurement strategy for divisional marketing and divisional technology categories
  • Leverage spend across the organisation; both across regions and across divisions
  • Clearly articulate and communicate the vision for our procurement strategy across the company
  • Provide clear ownership of categories and strong business partnering to operational leads/ decision makers
  • Ensure that the strategy is flexible enough to provide successful outcomes across our diverse portfolio of shows
  • Benchmark with other Informa business units and with competitors to ensure we are getting the best value from our procurement strategy
  • Share best practice across regions and/ or divisions


Identifying and securing potential suppliers

  • Work with operations and marketing teams to understand their requirements for potential suppliers
  • Write RFP documents that capture the requirements of the business and issue these RFPs to pre-qualified bidders
  • Oversee the end-to-end RFP process, including collecting of responses, setting up face-to-face meetings, providing feedback, answering questions, gathering stakeholder scores and then awarding/declining as appropriate
  • When appropriate look to employ a robust and agile sourcing model to award contracts without a full RFP


Commercial negotiations

  • Wherever possible look to achieve win-win outcomes where Informa achieves its objectives but suppliers are also able to make acceptable returns and provide the right quality of service
  • Ensure that Informa’s deals are best-in-market, which should be commensurate with our position as the global and regional market-leader
  • Look for additional, non-financial benefits to Informa that will increase the overall value of our contracts
  • Include strong SLAs in all supplier contracts
  • Ensure that there is an upward curve in the profitability over the lifetime of a contract and ensure that additional volume leads to greater financial success for Informa
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
  • Drive regional/global deals where appropriate, but also maximise the value of local knowledge and local relationships
  • Ensure new deals are embedded in the organisation and benefits realised


Technology transformation

  • Take a leading role in Informa Markets’ procurement technology transformation, by spearheading the evolution of the Coupa platform as a world-class S2P solution for the business
  • Be a champion for Coupa, advocating its value to the business and driving utilisation regionally and globally
  • Champion the system to suppliers and help establish new ordering/ billing processes where necessary
  • Enable good spending decisions through technology and process





Preferred Partner strategy

  • Contribute to Informa Markets’ Partnership Strategy and look for opportunities to improve the customer journey while supporting the Preferred Partners
  • Work with the Head of Partnerships and Customer Experience Director to identify gaps in the customer journey that can be filled through new supplier solutions


Supplier Relationship Management

  • Maintain and improve our Informa Markets SRM strategy in EMEA, defining the suppliers who should be included and ensuring the programme runs effectively
  • Support the Head of Partnerships with the management and coordination of our preferred suppliers
  • Build and maintain strong partner relationships
  • Liaise with the Marketing and Operations teams to ensure that all contractual terms are met from both parties
  • Removing under-performing suppliers from our vendor pool


Contract performance

  • Regularly review all contracts to ensure that they meet our requirements
  • Conduct robust checks of all contracts to ensure that both Informa and the supplier are complying with all contractual items
  • Examine and test existing contracts
  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
  • Track and report on commission rates and other contractual benefits


Partner with Informa Group functions

  • Be a key stakeholder and partner of the Informa Group Procurement team and work with them on aligning divisional and Group procurement strategies
  • Work closely with Informa Group legal teams on all contracts
  • Adhere to all Informa compliance requirements and monitor supplier performance to ensure they are meeting our requirements
  • Collaborate with Informa H&S teams to ensure supplier’s meet and exceed our H&S requirements. Work with H&S team on remedial measures where necessary
  • Be an active partner of the Informa Sustainability team and look for supplier partnerships which support and enhance our sustainability initiatives


Management and Reporting

  • Track and report on savings targets and other functional KPIs
  • Monitor and manage all commission budgets and forecasts
  • Effective communication with internal teams to maximise supplier performance
  • Perform any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility




Person Specification


Minimum Education Level:


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent


Background Knowledge, Skills & Experience:




  • Extensive experience in a procurement role in major multinationals
  • Experience in the tradeshow industry as an organiser or supplier to the industry
  • Strong negotiation ability
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
