The Role

The Global Licensing Group enables the world's most influential entertainment, character, fashion, art and corporate brand owners and agents to connect with consumer goods manufacturers, licensees and retailers. We help brands to meet with manufacturers and retailers to foster licensing deals, brand extension partnerships and help bring new products to life. The licensing market is worth an estimated $270+ billion of retail sales and generates $14 billion of royalty revenues for licensors.


As the Event Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day management and development of Licensing Expo, Brand Licensing Europe and the Licensing Leadership Summits.


This role will be globally focused and the candidate will be flexible in their working hours to accommodate an 8 hour time difference with the Santa Monica office.



Job Summary/Responsibilities



Outline of key responsibilities

Event Strategy, Design and innovation

  • Maintain event timelines and project plans
  • Support the design and delivery of outstanding customer experience by creating innovative and interactive experiences at events in line – all within budget and/or forecasted P&L
  • Develop executable creative ideas to engage customers including prototyping new ideas and innovative, agile approaches
  • Contribute to the long-term planning of event design within constraints of event management, challenging current restrictions while maintaining relevance and increasing engagement
  • Assist with the interpretation of customer insight based on conversations and data in order to evolve relevance and value of the event
  • With a focus on customer proposition, support event marketers in general review of event materials (including show emails deployed, websites, mailers at various stages of review, key messaging, press releases)
  • With a focus on customer proposition, support sales team in the creation of innovative sponsorship ideas and/or activations that can be commercialised within budget and/or forecasted P&L
  • Manage the post-event debrief process
  • Project manage show floor features and activations working in conjunction with Event & Content Director
  • “Own” global event initiatives such as Matchmaking Service, Global Partners Program, Licensing Accelerator 365, License Global “at show” presence, Licensing Week
  • Collaborate and share event ideas and learnings with Event and Content Director & VP Licensing

Operational Management

  • Maintain event timelines and project plans, collate post-show reports from teams across all functions
  • Work with the Sales Director and event management team to manage the floorplan, maximizing revenue opportunities, customer experience and attendee flow. Lead the overall customer experience strategy
  • Support, where necessary, the annual financial planning and monthly forecasting process
  • Create mini budgets for activations and features, raising POs where necessary
  • Evaluate event content needs with VP Licensing, Event and Content Director and Licensing International
  • Alongside Event and Content Director, act as the main liaison point with Event Operations, particularly around event set-up and operations budget

Skills required

  • Demonstrable experience in the (large scale or B2B) events and/ or exhibition industry
