JOB SUMMARY:

The European Marketing Manager is responsible for implementing the overall marketing strategy to achieve the core event objectives - meeting visitor registration and attendance goals, meeting conference delegate revenue numbers, building brand awareness, and driving qualified sales exhibitor leads to achieve sales revenue goals.

The European Marketing Manager will engage and build relationships with previous conference and expo attendees, evaluate the industry to identify potential attendees and new target markets, and develop relationships with potential partners including trade associations and organizations. The European Marketing Manager will also provide strategic support to the sales team to ensure the commercial success of the exhibition, which includes the creation of sales support materials, generating sales leads and sales marketing campaign planning and execution.

This position is responsible for managing one direct report and will work closely with the event Brand Director, sales team and conference team, and report into the US based marketing team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for developing the go-to-market plans to drive exhibitor revenue and attendee registration for The Battery Show Europe and Electric &Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo Europe.
  • Manage the European marketing specialist, providing mentorship, leadership and development.
  • Create the overall marketing plan for the Battery Show events, including budget development, attendee and conference delegate forecast, and exhibitor and attendee acquisition plans utilizing traditional, online, and social media marketing channels.
  • Partner with the Sales and Event Management teams for the strategy, value proposition, and execution of assigned events with the goal to drive exhibitors/attendees to the event expos and educational conferences.
  • Work with key internal and external resource to develop and execute campaigns, including creative, website, conference producers, PR, and operations.
  • Market mapping and audience planning, including database analysis, segmentation and management.
  • Delivering the acquisition and conversion campaign for attendees including:
    • Managing the creation of direct marketing copy and materials, email copy and all online content and registration web page copy 
    • Design and execution of email campaigns (through Eloqua) following email best practices 
    • Work with the PR team to ensure distribution of press releases and build relationships to create positive media coverage of conferences and expos.
    • Design and delivery of all digital campaign tactics to support event goals.
    • Utilizing all available tools to track, measure, and analyze marketing initiatives, and provide suggestions for testing and improvement of marketing activities in the future. 
    • Work with the PR team to ensure distribution of press releases and build relationships to create positive media coverage of conferences and expos.
    • Utilizing all available tools to track, measure, and analyze marketing initiatives, and provide suggestions for testing and improvement of marketing activities in the future. 
  • Delivering the exhibitor and sales marketing campaign including:
    • Production of sales support collateral and exhibitor post show reports
    • Design and execution of mail marketing campaigns – new business lead generation campaigns, exhibitor retention campaigns, exhibitor global cross-sell campaigns.
    • Utilize all available tools to analyze campaign performance, reporting of metrics, measuring marketing spend to revenue ratio, sales engagement with content and collateral.
    • Design and delivery of all digital marketing campaigns and tactics to support event goals.
    • Drive exhibitor engagement with event to raise event awareness through exhibitor customer channels.
  • Market mapping and audience planning, including database analysis, segmentation and management across attendees and exhibitors. Track and report on segment performance, recommend areas for improvement.
  • Remain abreast of relevant market conditions and competitive trends, leveraging insights to inform growth opportunities for exhibitor and attendee audience segments.
  • Work closely with the sales team, operations team and Event Managers to fulfil commitments to sponsors, media partners and stakeholders
  • Working with the data analysts to analyze event data, report to stakeholders and leadership, driving for continuous improvements and growth opportunities.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • You will have a marketing qualification and/or at least 5 years’ experience in a marketing role
  • Experience in managing people
  • Strong knowledge of Google Analytics, digital advertising channels and social marketing
  • You will have excellent copywriting skills
  • Be target driven and goal orientated
  • Excellent communications and analytical skills
  • Highly organized, quick thinking and methodical
  • Be willing to experiment and implement a variety of marketing techniques
  • Able to persuade and negotiate
  • Extensive experience of multi-channel marketing
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of people management, development and retention.
  • Had responsibility for strategic and tactical marketing plan, including budget management.
  • Experience of marketing automation and CRM systems
  • Extensive experience of multi-channel marketing
  • Ideally worked within events, expo, new media
  • Ideally worked at a European level.
  • German language skills a plus
