  • Oversee and maintain Health, Safety and Security standards and systems to meet local and, where applicable, international requirements and company internal policies
  • Promote and ensure Health, Safety and Security policies are adopted and adhered to at our events and conferences
  • Create health and safety plans for specific events as and when required
  • Approve the usage of any other event contractors/service providers
  • Advise on contractor selection and management
  • Advisory on security risks
  • Advisory for travel risks to emerging markets in collaboration with the Travel and Venues team.
  • Keep abreast of changes to H&S legislation in the relevant markets and ensure effective and timely adoption thereof
  • Research health and safety standards in new and emerging markets the Group operates in and advise on relevant risks
  • Provide or source through procurement technical expertise and support for senior management and for operational teams responsible for organising and running events
  • Perform a sample of annual on-site visits to test the adoption of Group standards for event health and safety procedures and arrangements
  • Create Health, Safety and Security plans for specific events as and when required
  • Liaise with HS & S legislative bodies and emergency services as required to agree and set clear escalation procedures and ensure alignment with our health and safety management system
  • Engage with and participate in industry forums on security


  • Co-ordinate and work with internal and external auditors
  • Prepare divisional health and safety report on a monthly basis to the Head of Group Health & Safety and contribute to a quarterly report to the Group Risk Committee

KPI Reporting

  • Collect and collate health and safety data for incidents and near misses
  • Record leading and lagging indicators of health & safety risks
  • Analyse accident and near miss data to build prevention programs to continuously improve health and safety at our events

Learning and Training

  • Build on and promote the strong health and safety culture within our organisation
  • Identify and address learning and training needs
  • Create annual training programmes
  • Schedule external and internal training providers
  • Deliver HSS training courses as required


Person Specification


  • Relevant health, safety and security experience, and ideally educated to a degree level or equivalent
  • EHS qualifications to at least NVQ5 / NEBOSH Diploma level;
  • Membership of a recognised HSE body (such as IOSH).  Chartered or working towards Chartered Membership is desirable but not essential
  • Minimum of 5 years’ health and safety experience in the APAC region
  • Demonstrable in-depth and up to date knowledge and understanding of essential/relevant EHS legislation
  • Strong understanding of risk based health and safety management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel throughout the region
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to changing situations
  • Detail oriented
  • Confidence to work effectively with senior management and colleagues at all levels
  • Team player with a strong focus on communication and service delivery 
  • A good knowledge and understanding of the exhibitions and events business
