Black Hat is seeking a results-driven, team-oriented, self-motivated professional with strong project management and relationship building skills for the position of Program Manager. Other qualifications include: experience in managing professional events, relational database management skills, service orientation, budget management, as well as strong writing and editing skills. The Program Manager will be also be detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and on deadline. The position is part of the Black Hat Content team and reports into the Director of Content.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Establish communication schedule to update stakeholders (internal and external) on the progress of ongoing projects
  • Liaise with Black Hat Review Boards on content direction, speaker selection, and general program development
  • Serve as primary contact for content development including responding to proposals, researching and contacting invited speakers, and managing data
  • Maintain accurate track of speaker selections, deadlines, remaining slots, and alternates
  • Develop and maintain all data for Black Hat Briefings content and speakers including feedback from Review Board and all on-site feedback collected on past speakers and topics
  • Develop program timelines, launch Call for Papers, and produce event schedules for Briefings in conjunction with the marketing, web production, mobile app, PR, and operations teams
  • Manage relationships with speakers throughout the entire program cycle by executing contracts, communicating specific deadlines, expectations, and guidelines, and providing feedback to speakers as part of an ongoing effort to improve customer experience
  • Responsible for the operation of Black Hat’s Content Management System; work with internal development teams to report system issues, identify missing features, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Ensure feature recommendations from the Black Hat Review Board are implemented in future system developments.
  • Update and maintain accuracy of conference content and data in internal databases, websites, mobile apps, and printed materials
  • Liaise with marketing and PR teams on content marketing, promotion, and publicity
  • Liaise with registration and operations teams on program / event logistics, temporary help, and volunteer needs
  • Oversee Speaker Liaison and Speaker Coaching programs by managing third party vendors who lead community volunteers in pre-event and on-site customer service assistance
  • Liaise with Micro Summit Chairs on content direction, speaker selection and general program development
  • Responsible for the production and assembly of content for the Briefings pocket guides
  • Prepare internal post-show reports including Speaker evaluation reports for ongoing improvement
  • Oversee vendor set-up and payment initiation processes (purchase orders and invoices) to ensure speakers are paid according to terms.
  • Manage Black Hat’s webcast series by selecting speakers, overseeing relationship with third party moderator, and collaborating with marketing and sales to ensure webcasts are produced monthly
  • Perform editing and peer reviews for online conference content, marketing emails, event guides, and on-site signage and schedules.

 

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Interest in technology and Information Security preferred, not required.
  • 2-5 years in managing events, conferences or relevant experience desired.
  • Proven ability to manage large scale projects and deliverables.
  • Demonstrable expertise in managing projects to tight deadlines.
  • Customer service orientation, strong communication skills, diplomacy and tact.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to handle various tasks simultaneously under multiple deadlines.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work well with a team
  • Domestic and international travel is required.
