You will be responsible for motivating and managing your team in the provision of accurate and timely statutory financial information to key business partners, external stakeholders and Group finance.
You will work closely with the business partners to understand their individual requirements.
You will be responsible for ensuring a high value, consistent accounting service is provided across the accounting teams within your area.
You will be expected to support the annual statutory audit process and ensure all MDM/GPO processes are followed.
You must ensure that all company policies are adhered to and that specific duties are carried out within set time limits whilst providing an excellent level of service to all Informa customers and colleagues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The T&C Assistant VAT Controller is expected to assume the following key responsibilities plus any other reasonable duties as required:
• Review of VAT returns in accordance with statutory deadlines
• Review of VAT Balance Sheet Reconciliations by set deadline
• Review and submission of annual VAT returns
• Review of monthly EC Sales list and Intrastat declarations(EUSSC Only)
• Preparation of VAT returns (EUSSC Only)
• Advise other Teams within SSC on VAT issues and queries, offering support on invoice complexities and coding
• Assist with special projects within the department. Details include; Key Process testing, new processes & systems and Identify and assist with implementation of SSC wide projects introduced by Senior Mangers or GPO
• Assist with setting up new VAT registrations across the world
• Liaising with Tax Authorities on issues or audits
• Liaising with external Tax Advisers on VAT queries
• Assist with VAT due diligence and attend meetings on new acquisitions, divestments and business product changes
• Complete system testing for new VAT rule changes/projects
• Ensure systems are up to date for VAT rate changes, liaising with relevant system teams
• Assist with the management of other Group and adhoc VAT projects where required
• Prepare and provide VAT training where necessary to Tax & Compliance Team or other SSC teams / business
• Mentor other team members with VAT training and development
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
• Team workload management
• Motivate team to ensure performance metrics s are hit
• Support communication structures across the team to ensure all key messages are communicated

• Support Tax & Compliance Senior Manager/VAT Controller to develop a plan for cross-training, working shadowing and rotation of responsibilities within team
• Provides coaching on both soft and technical skills within the team
• Act as a role model to others
• People development to ensure the effectiveness of all staff within the department concentrating on both performance and soft skill development
• Planning and prioritising the work within the department ensuring resource management is considered
• Deputise for VAT Controller when required

KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of all Tax & Compliance processes including best practice in Tax & Compliance, people, processes and technology
• Significant knowledge of SAP system
• Recognised qualification/Accounting degree preferable (SSC Specific)
• A track record of continuous professional development
• Knowledge of dealing with acquisitions and disposals
• 4 years relevant Tax & compliance/accounting experience
• Knowledge of lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred
