Job Summary:

The Associate PR Manager is responsible for delivering on communications and PR for UBM’s Advanced Manufacturing, Licensing and Powersports portfolio of events, spanning Medical Design and Manufacturing, Packaging, Automation Technology, Design & Manufacturing, Plastics, Licensing and Motorcycles. Main responsibilities include driving event public relations through proactive media outreach, press release writing, maintaining targeted media lists and staying abreast of the latest industry trends while building/maintaining positive brand recognition in the market. Other responsibilities include scheduling and staffing media interviews, providing onsite support (with travel as needed) and coverage tracking. We are looking for someone who is organized, excited about PR and the events industry, and is interested in nurturing relationships with industry professionals, media and influencers.    

Posotion Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive communication plan deliverables for Advanced Manufacturing, Licensing and Powersports portfolios of events, executing against the defined goals of each brand while seeking new opportunities for positive publicity and liaising with clients
  • Manage communication with show teams, providing consultative advice on tactical communications activities and strategies
  • Ensure internal team processes are upheld and that deadlines, deliverables, event objectives and service agreements are consistently met
  • Avidly follow the news agenda, regularly identifying proactive pitching and coverage opportunities
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to PR Specialist
  • Support each event with PR and communications tactics, such as:
    • Assist with development and implementation of strategic PR plans across multiple brands YOY
    • Spearhead content creation, including but not limited to press releases, Q&As and bylines
    • Proactively pitch, build and maintain relationships with trade (advanced manufacturing, licensing and powersports) and business press/analyst/blogger/influencer communities, securing event and external coverage
    • Drive media registrations and attendance for events
    • Attend UBM events, staff media rooms, check-in and credential media, and schedule and staff interviews for spokespeople and external clients
    • Create valuable and insightful briefing sheets to assist spokespeople and external clients with press communications
    • Manage and update targeted press lists
  • Help manage the media and PR areas of the brands’ websites: including press registration setup, media credentialing and logging event-related news
    • Technical efficiency is important to learn new internal processes and systems

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 2 years demonstrated Public Relations experience; agency experience is required
  • Experience with/knowledge of essential Public Relations tasks: media contact research, coverage flagging, pitching, press release creation
  • Detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and works well under pressure with tight deadlines – strong time management skills required
  • Self-motivated and organized, with ability to work with multiple teams and take direction from multiple individuals
  • Interest or experience working in events, Advanced Manufacturing, Licensing, Powersports or Technology industries and ability to up-level technological communications a plus, but not required
  • Ability to travel 25-30% as needed to events
