Senior Marketing Manager | New York, NY

Informa's Greenbuild International Conference & Expo is seeking a Senior Marketing Manager to lead the over-arching event marketing strategy for our growing event and serve as a lead contributor to the event's overall revenue and audience growth objectives. Through data-driven planning, agile management, effective communication, and market-leading, multi-channel campaign tactics, the Senior Marketing Manager will rally internal and external resources to achieve lead, attendance and revenue targets.  The right-fit professional leads all campaign and content marketing activities with an innovative, customer-first approach, orchestrated in a seamless cross-platform experience. Success in this role is defined not only by the achievement of agreed revenue and customer goals, but more importantly by leading indirect reports and extended team members in a manner that inspires exceptional contribution and fluid collaboration.

In this role you will:

  • Interpersonal effectiveness: organize, motivate and maintain fluid communication with direct reports and indirect extended team members.  Collaborate seamlessly with Brand, Sales, Operations and Conference peers. 
  • Strategic Marketing: 
    • Branding:  establish and maintain clear and contemporary brand standards, brand tone of voice and creative look/feel consistent across all channels and formats
    • Customer acquisition and retention:  owner of the brand’s current and target audience profiles including growth and retention strategies
    • Campaign excellence:  with focus on speed to market, employ a test-and-scale methodology across channels; mix best practice with new techniques
    • Budget:  create and manage the annual marketing budget
    • Outcomes: tie all activities to target results including brand engagement, lead generation, delegate acquisition and retention; customer up- and cross-sell
    • Customer data:  own all facets of customer data capture including profile enrichment, form development, hosting, privacy/security compliance
  • Reporting and Agile Campaign Management:  develop and maintain weekly pacing, productivity, and budget trackers.  Review customer insights, campaign performance and ROI against KPIs to ensure activities perform to forecast, adjusting quickly and nimbly in-cycle as appropriate
  • Content and PR: partner closely with internal teams and agency to leverage content in ways that support lead gen and audience engagement targets.
  • Sales Marketing: provide strategic leadership to SM team in developing sponsor-related lead generation/nurturing and upsell campaigns
  • Social Media: provide strategic leadership to SoMe team to drive brand awareness, engagement, leads and subscriptions and ensure brand presence on social is consistent with all other channels
  • Digital Engagement:  measure and optimize customer digital experience to best support growth targets; ensure seamless UX across print, digital, mobile, on-line forms and registration
  • Partner Relationships:  work proactively with associations, sponsors and media partners to surface and execute creative win-win strategies to drive incremental audience growth while returning strong value to all partners, ultimately building long-standing high value relationships

What you'll need to succeed:


  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in marketing, communication or related field
  • 6+ years marketing experience; minimum 1 year at management level
  • B2B or B2C event experience a MUST
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to work with multiple teams and take direction from multiple individuals and outside partners
  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks based on impact.
  • Team leadership or supervisory experience
  • Budget management and forecasting
  • Demonstrable, hands-on experience in the following marketing-related platforms:
    • Digital:  CMS, mobile apps, SEM/SEO, responsive display/retargeting ads, etc
    • Social media: paid and organic campaigns, editorial calendar management, influencer management
    • Marketing automation campaign planning and delivery, including software such as Eloqua, Marketo or ExactTarget/Salesforce Marketing Cloud
    • Content:  gating, lead/subscriber capture tactics, social sharing
  • Strong copywriting and proof-reading skills; strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficient in working with PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Travel < 10% per year by air and ground


  • Experience in sustainability or green business fields
  • Oversight of indirect staff in a matrix organization; leading “beyond the Org chart”
  • Experience with social analytics, listening or content distribution tools such as Hootsuite, Radian6, Sprinklr
  • Job request and/or productivity management tools such as Jira, WorkFront, InMotion, Asana
